REFLECTIONS

As my turn of being a student blogger has come to an end, I can happily say I have met wonderful souls who have helped me with my blogging and my journey as a student at the Australasian College of Broadway. College life might have been one hectic schedule, but a very fun one.

Deciding to do my Diploma in Specialist Makeup Services was really good for me because I got to bring out my more creative side. I have had so many people ask about my experience at the Australasian College and I am so happy that I chose this course. I have been a part of so many different projects that I would not have had the opportunity to do anywhere else!

I have always had an interest in makeup and had been looking into so many different institutions before I chose the Australasian College. At first I was simply doing this course for fun because of my interest in makeup. I actually did not know what I would do with it after I had completed my course. As things progressed and I saw the opportunities the girls before me had when blogging for the college I HAD to enter the competition for the second round.

When I was chosen to blog for my college I really felt I knew what I wanted to get out of my diploma and that is to be able to share my knowledge and experience with makeup to others through blogging.
To even be able to say I had the opportunity to blog for The Australasian College Broadway has been the pinnacle of my college experience.
I have SO MANY special and memorable moments from this year.

If I had to list a few, however, I would have to say:

My ‘catwalk’ assessment
Playing around with my creative perspective

The look I created for my ‘catwalk’ assessment.

‘Iconic Movies Through Time’
My first event for ‘Iconic Movies Through Time’ and actually applying my skills on models.

The ‘Iconic movies through time’ team & our beautiful performing art students from the Monte Sant' Angelo Mercy College.

Meeting Lisa Messenger and Ash Quinn
I was able to meet and pick the brains of these two lovely ladies who have so much knowledge within the industry.

Modelling for Sharon Blain
Meeting Sharon Blain was an absolutely amazing opportunity I had the privilege of being apart of.

Volunteering
Out of all the workshops and opportunities I have volunteered to work for, being apart of the hair and makeup crew for a Tropfest 2015 film and also a theatre play.

Short film, ‘The Half’ recording within the Seymour Centre.

Theatre play ‘The Cunning Little Vixen’ adaption in the Sydney Grammar School.

All of these were stepping-stones in my experience, and have allowed me to view the makeup industry in a new way. In contrast to when I first started, doing the course simply for the credentials, I now feel like I can go anywhere from here.

I remember reading the last entry blog posts by Rachel Hodgens and Layla Hammoud on their experiences of being student bloggers and can say I received everything I expected to gain from this experience and I am so glad I read their blog posts for the extra push to go ahead and enter the student blogger opportunity.

What I hope for is that someone reads one of my blog posts and to feel the same way I did when reading Rachel’s and Layla’s blog posts - that is to go ahead and just go for it!

No regrets and overjoyed - thank you Australasian College and everyone I have met on the way to making my experience a memorable one.

Xx
