We have all been in a situation where we are in a corner station backstage with clients coming in and out within a small time frame. As a makeup artist I have constantly been on the lookout for items for my kit that would allow me to cut makeup time during such events. This blog post is all about makeup shortcuts and I hope you find these products as helpful as they have been for me!
MY PICKS:
With the MAC prep + prime fix + you can use this product as a primer for smooth makeup application and also as a finish spray to set the makeup.
Two in one shortcuts is what this blog post is all about! So this is a definite must!
Anastasia’s contour kit has been replicated by many brands but I am yet to come across a worthy enough dupe. So for those who want a highlight and contour in one convenient product then yes you MUST invest in this. You can use this for subtle to dramatic contours and highlights. This has matte and shimmer shades so you can choose accordingly with what look you want to go with. Instead of carrying a tonne of separate highlights and contours I would suggest investing in her kits.
Kit number two to invest in! Anastasia’s brow pro palette is very good and pigmented. The brow shades are more natural in brow colours than the simple brown and black hues.
Beauty blenders! We love them because we can use them in various ways for base applications. Concealer, foundation or cream contouring - Beauty blenders will take care of it all! I am not saying brushes will not be needed, but, this is an essential item for your kit fellow beauty lovers.
For hair stylists or those of us who have it in us to multi-task and be hair and makeup artists at the same time at an event, then it is a good item to have. Dry shampoo can freshen and also add volume to your clients hair.
If your client has product in their hair and shampooing your clients hair is not an option on the table then this product detangles and quickly refreshes the hair for re-styling. It can also reactivate any previous products in the hair.
If you have not noticed so far - I rather favour palettes. With the Z Palette you can choose to have the empty metal pans or attach refills of eyeshadows or lipsticks pots that you already own into a Z Palette. The Z Palettes have magnetic bottoms so you can fill them in with whatever you like!
I feel I see so many shades of lipsticks that I would love for my kit but I do not want the bulkiness of having a heap of lipsticks in my makeup kit. The Z Palette and de-potting starting kit is great to place the many shades you love in one convenient palette.
All of these products make such a difference when I’m working on site as a makeup artist. What are your top products?
Xx
