SPRING RACING CARNIVAL : FROM THE SIDELINES

What I love about my college is they give their students the chance to showcase their abilities and collaborate with others to achieve amazing looks.
Since the season of Spring is upon us and the Melbourne Cup was just around the corner, the Australasian College Broadway hosted a Spring Carnival Runway show.
Elements of floral, cocktail, black and white and champagne were the key themes given to four groups of students, with the brief to create directional, inspired looks, with each team also incorporating a body painted ‘jockey’.
The hair, makeup and beauty students collaborated to create some incredible looks.

Spring Carnival Runway included the clothing designs of students from the Raffles College of Design and Commerce and we also had the pleasure of having the bloggers, Ash Quinn of Oz Product Junkie and Sarah Sayers of Sarah What, who both were our special guests for the night.

Dresses: by Tiana Van.

I had the opportunity to meet the lovely Ash Quinn. I asked about how it was for her when she started out blogging. It is so wonderful being able to meet amazing bloggers who have experienced the same obstacles with writing as I feel I am having right now.

HER ADVICE: Focus on one outlet you feel most comfortable with to blog on and reach your audience that way instead of feeling overwhelmed with dealing with several different platforms. She also brought up how much blogging she does through her Instagram which these days seems to be the main focus to reach people.

MY FAVOURITE LOOKS:

The hair students created amazing show stopping looks which were the main focus of the Spring Carnival Runway.
Watching the runway show was a lot of fun and each model looked absolutely amazing.

I had the opportunity to be a part of a previous runway show 'Iconic Movies Through Time' at the Australasian College of Broadway and I can definitely recommend being a part of events like this for any student who feels they are ready to take a step further with their studies and challenge themselves with a fun project.

I feel I gained more confidence with my skills, collaborated with lovely people who I learned so much from and it was so wonderful seeing my work up on the runway!

Xx
